From the Redwood Forest...

In July (Shsh I'm only 3 months behind) we had the opportunity to go to Oregon for a week with my mom and my sister Nicki and her family. Grant had to work so he stayed home which was really sad, but we had a blast! My bro-in-law Mark was such a trooper being the only man with 3 women and 6 kids, but he was great. He had the trip all mapped out for us and made sure that we saw everything we possibly could along the way. He didn't want us to miss out on seeing any of the beautiful scenery. With two SUV's, six kids, and days in the car, it seemed to take us foreeeever to get there but it was so worth it when we did. The first big tree was saw in the Redwood Forest. Here is all the kids
so excited to be out of the car for a minute.
You can see how big the tree is in this one.

Cute kids!

All of our crew heading into the Forest.
The "Big Tree"

Macie was such happy traveler.

Some strange tree slug that helps plant redwood seeds.

Sitting on the roots of a tipped over tree.

It felt like we were driving in a tunnel because the trees are so tall.

The happy driver.

Macie was by far the best traveler of the bunch. She hardly made a peep the whole way.

The kids did pretty good as long as we played musical cars
and gave them lots of snacks.

Brixton was such a good helper with Macie in the car. I was so glad to have
her ride with us because she would feed her and help entertain her.
These crazy trees with moss growing up them. We were fascinated and had to get a pic.
A closer look at the moss.

Mark insisted we go see this National Park (I can't remember the name) which was a big giant mountain. The view from on top was amazing, you could see for miles.

Mark made Brixton and James hike down onto this cliff. The rest of us didn't dare to go.

Just gotta vent.

Can I just say that I hate the blue team. And I'm not talking about BYU (but I'm not real fond of them either). If you watch Biggest Loser then you know what I am talking about. Could Tracy be any more psychotic? And what is with Liz turning into a total Wench. I actually liked her in the beginning, but now she is just mean. Same with Rebecca, gettin' all snobby. I love the black team not only because they are the underdogs but because they are so much more genuine and nice. I was sooo happy when they won the baseball challenge. And what is with Abby going home? I Loved loved loved her and don't think it's fair she went home. When someone loses 4 lbs. in one week they aren't helping their team and should get the boot. And Yes, I'm talking about Daniel. BUG!

Thank you, I feel better.

Or...Maybe not!

If you read my last post below, I am now taking back what I said about Collin in the title of that post. Here's why. On Monday, the little neighbor girl came over to play with Collin. She hadn't been here five minutes when she told Collin (in her bossy little girl way) that they were going to play "married" (whatever that is). She then went off to play in Macie's room by herself. Typical girl. Gives orders and then leaves the poor guy wondering what it going on. So Collin follows her around from room to room for the next fifteen or so minutes saying "Rylan, I thought we were going to play married". At this point I am thinking to myself, the poor kid obviously doesn't know what married is or surely he wouldn't want to play so bad. So I asked him, "Collin, what is 'married'?" "Ya know mom", he says. "Me and Rylan are married and then we have a baby". I told him that maybe they could just play house instead. Anyway, after Collin asked Rylan about the fiftieth time why they weren't playing she finally told him they were. Then Collin said, "So then why aren't we kissing?" I about died...called Grant right up and told him we are in MEGA trouble considering they are both only 4. I kindly told Rylan it was time for her to go home.
And I though he had his head on straight when it came to girls.

3 Thumbs Down.

1 germaphobic mom + 1 baby + 1 thumb sucker + Dr's. office = 3 thumbs waaay down.
I lectured Collin the entire way to their well child check on Tuesday about not touching anything, not touching his face, sucking his thumb, or rubbing his eyes. I was so grateful when we arrived and found out that the staff had decided to throw all of the toys and trucks away.
The good news is, Macie is growing. 18 lbs. 6 oz. (2%) and Collin is now only 3 lbs. away from moving to a booster seat (37 lbs. 59%). Both kids got flu shots (too bad the H1N1 shots aren't here yet) and Collin got 1 kindergarten shot and Macie got 3 other shots. The nurse and I had to sit on Collin but we got it done. Thank goodness we don't have to go back for 3 more months, unless someone gets sick. Grant has officially ban me from going to Walmart/Germ City so hopefully we can stay healthy!

Smart Smart Boy

While Driving in the car.
Me: So Collin, who is your girlfriend these days? (He is always telling me who is
girlfriend is for the day and why, but he hasn't said anything for a while). Is it Hannah (Montana)?
Collin: Nope
Me: Is it Lilly (Hannah's best friend)?
Collin: Nope
Me: Is it Cordie?
Collin: Nope
Me: Rylan?
Collin: Nope
Me: Then who is it?
Collin: Actually, (and he says this word so funny, you'd have to hear him) I don't have a one anymore.
Me: Why not?
Collin: Because I hate girlfriends and I don't want one.
Me: Oh OK, that sounds great!
Collin: Actually, (he pauses...he's really thinking...pauses some more) my girlfriend is Mommy!
He has never said it was me before and it nearly melted my heart!

Cute Cousins

My kids are so lucky to have such cute cousins close to their age that live relatively close. Well at least in the same state. A couple months ago we were able to have Kody and Lou sleepover for a night. The kids had a blast playing together because we don't get to see these guys a whole lot. Collin and Kody
Mace and The Lou.

We get to have Gage come to our house to play every Thursday. Collin LOVES it when Gage comes and asks me every single morning if today is Thursday. These two are the best of buds and we are so lucky that Gage lives so close to us.

BBQ

Here we are well into Fall and I am still blogging about summer. Oh well. So a couple times this summer we were able to go to my G&G Howe's house for a BBQ. Of course I only got a couple of pictures but we had a great time! The kids LOVE G&G Bobby and get so excited to go see them. The cutest.
All of the grandkids hanging out on Grandma's porch.

When I was little I loved to play up there.

Grandpa Rick took all of the kids for rides on his motorcycle. Collin was in Heaven!

Sippin' back on a little somethin' somethin'.

Tiff, Mindy, Macie, and headless Kim...sorry about that. Isn't Mindy's face awesome?
